Here are my first outlines for the essay. It also includes some notes and ideas on what I could write about for each paragraph. I always start out with the mindset that I am going to write five paragraphs. The first paragraph is the opening that features the thesis statement. The second, third, and fourth paragraphs in the body. The fifth paragraph is the closing I usually begin it with a revised version of the thesis statement from the first paragraph. I also make sure to touch everything that I have talked about in each paragraph in the fifth one to make sure I can have a complete closing.

Here is a new version of my original outline and some more in-depth notes. As you can see I have highlighted certain things in order to keep it a bit more organized. I also have post-it notes on the pages that consist of last-minute notes that didn't fit on the pages. This particular outline and set of notes really helped me write my essay. This is what I mainly used to compose it.

This is the final rough draft that I turned in for the second assignment. This essay focused on ethos, pathos, and logos. Before writing this essay I learned about Aristotle's Appeals of Argument. That helped me understand how to write a sound analysis. As well as having homework that focused on analyzing ads. For instance, writing about a GEICO ad. I also read about analysis essays in my textbook Everyone's An Author.

Outdoor Voices Ad Analysis
Outdoor Voices is a Recreational brand. According to their website, “We’re on a mission
to Get the World Moving, because we believe Doing Things — moving your body and having
fun with friends — is the surest way to a happy and healthy life. When you let go of the
expectation to perform, that’s when the real magic happens. You learn that the joy of the game
will always outlast a win. You learn that friends who sweat together, stick together. And you
learn that moving creates endorphins, and Endorphins Make You Happy.” Their goal is to get
people doing things while having fun. In one of their first ads with Nordstrom, what is the main
argument the advertisement is making?
The advertisement’s main argument is that you should get out and start “Doing Things.” It asks, “How will you start #DoingThings?” It wants to know how you will start moving and be active once you shop their online flash event at Nordstrom. It displays reasons that persuade the audience to choose the brand. For example, it says, “The get-out-and-get-moving brand is here.” It persuades the audience to get out and move their body. As a consumer who wouldn’t want to look stylish and gorgeous while running like the model in this advertisement?
This ad makes two assumptions. First, you will be active in their clothing. Secondly, you will start doing things once you wear their clothes. This ad uses the consumer’s emotions by making moving and doing things look fun and effortless. Although it is a newer brand, it is being

This ad makes two assumptions. First, you will be active in their clothing. Secondly, you will start doing things once you wear their clothes. This ad uses the consumer’s emotions by making moving and doing things look fun and effortless. Although it is a newer brand, it is being
advertised on Nordstrom Rack’s website. Nordstrom Rack is a well-known reliable corporation
that is trusted by many. Logically you are supposed to work out. It is well needed to get out and
start as they say, “Doing Things.” So why wouldn’t you purchase a stylish workout set from a
reputable company if you already need to work out? Why not look graceful like the models?
The image displayed in the ad is of two young women in the brand’s clothing. They are running. They appear to be having fun. The image uses trendy contrasting colors bringing the reader’s attention straight to the ad. It invokes the feeling of energy and recreation. It makes one reminisce the time when being active as a young child was not something to be dreaded but instead was something to look forward to. It makes me feel motivated. The words being used in the ad aren’t necessarily describing the physical product that they are selling but instead a feeling and a lifestyle. On the top, the left corner has a link to where the clothing is being sold saying, “New on nordstromrack.com.” Just below it has the company’s brand in large white letters, “Outdoor Voices.” Below the company’s name in a smaller print, it says, “The get-out-and-get- moving brand is here. How will you start #DoingThings?” Below the main statement of the ad, it states, “Shop Women’s Active”.
Outdoor Voices advertisement is to brand themselves as an activewear brand that wants you to have fun and get moving. They are promising the buyer that they will start doing things and have fun once they purchase their athletic wear. The context that the ad responds to is to have fun working out. The advertisers seem to be targeting a variety of young women as their demographic. Their main targets are young women who are into fashion and want to get moving.
I believe this ad is extremely effective in persuading its audience to purchase their products. You see Outdoor Voices isn’t just selling stylish functional workout clothes. They are selling a lifestyle that includes anyone and everyone. Outdoor Voices main argument is to start a

or a job. But instead as having fun and embracing that feeling of when you were a child.
